The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services no longer provide reimbursement to hospitals to care for a patient who has acquired a pressure ulcer while under the hospital‘s care. Therefore, pressure ulcer risk assessment, prevention, subsequent treatment, recognition of clinical conditions where pressure ulcers are unavoidable, and documentation presents important challenges to acute care hospitals. Using faculty who have implemented successful pressure ulcer prevention programs in their settings, this session will provide strategic planning and implementation techniques to optimize continuous performance improvement to reduce the number of pressure ulcers at your facility.
