Patients who present with complex wounds may have local or systemic conditions that deleteriously impact healing. A meticulous history and physical examination should be obtained to help identify all factors that impair healing. This session will review pertinent aspects of the history and physical examination, discuss diagnostic studies including radiological tests, non-invasive vascular testing, and laboratory work, and list differential diagnoses to consider when caring for patients with complex wounds affecting various body areas. Participants will practice comprehensive assessment using case studies.
